36,000 teachers protest after Calcutta High Court orders dismissal

Thousands of primary school teachers in West Bengal are facing an uncertain future after the Calcutta High Court ordered the dismissal of 36,000 untrained teachers. The ruling has triggered protests by affected teachers across the state. Many have expressed concerns over their future and are demanding clarity from the West Bengal Board of Primary Education Chairman Gautam Pal.

On Saturday, hundreds of expelled teachers gathered at the Y channel in Salt Lake and met with Pal to discuss the situation. Similarly, in Siliguri, 350 primary teachers who were recruited in the 2014 examination protested against the court's decision, claiming that the aptitude test was conducted in the Siliguri Education District.

The High Court's decision has caused widespread outrage among the affected teachers, who feel that they have been unfairly targeted. The primary teachers have been protesting against the ruling, arguing that it is arbitrary and goes against their fundamental rights. They have also expressed their dissatisfaction with the manner in which the decision was made. Some teachers claim that the court relied solely on the statements of a few individuals without considering the larger picture.

The issue of teacher appointments in West Bengal has been a contentious one, with allegations of corruption and nepotism often being leveled against the state government. The situation has been made worse by the fact that the education system in the state has been deteriorating over the years. Many teachers are poorly trained and ill-equipped to teach, leading to a decline in the quality of education.
